Christmas Markets In Germany

If you’ve ever been to Germany this time of year, no matter what town, you’ve probably experienced the joy and excitement of Christkindlmarkt – or Christmas Market.  These outdoor markets offer crafts, gifts, food and beverages including bier and Glühwein or warm mulled wine.  Youtube offers walking tours of Christmas Markets in Germany in towns like Nuremberg, Cologne, Dresden, Kassel, Berlin and many more.  Check this one in Marburg, – a university town just north of Frankfurt. Outdoor Christmas markets have spread worldwide including many cities in the U.S.

The Lancaster Liederkranz just held their annual Christkindlmarkt on Sunday December 10th at the club in Salunga with vendor stands, children’s craft and Children’s shopping room, German Choir and Dance performances. The best of course is the food offerings of home made strudel, pierogies, wurst and a sit-down meal of Rouladen, Schnitzel, Schweinhaxe, Chicken and Kassler Rippchen.
